This Represents the major conflicts in the Sudanese area. In the early 1970's there was a major confilct, which caused Africas biggest famine. The Sudanese government started to ignore the economic intrests of the the people of Darfur, which was a main cause of the famine. Then the government was accused of being "rebels". Then the government appointed the Arab militia called the Janjaweed to stop the conflict between the tribes of Sudan: the Pastoral, and the Agricultural Tribes. In 2003 the conflict resumed after many thought the issue in Darfur with the Jajaweed resulted in a mass genocide of innocent people of the Darfur region. This map shows the major conflicts in Africa represented by the orange and white diagonal stripes.

What is Darfur?

Sudatan President Bashir, the man in charge of the Darfur genocide.

Darfur began in February of 2003 in Darfur, Sudan in Africa and is still currently happening. It is modern day genocide that is against the non- Arab, African tribal groups, in Darfur. Thousands of Africans are dieing because of malnutrition and violent acts against them. This genocide is led by President Bashir, vice president Taha and Security Chief Gosh which are 3 members of the Sudanese government. This act of racial cleansing is a violation of human rights. It should be stopped and justice should be brought into this region of Africa. The only trick is figuring out how.

This is Uncle Sam being lazy. He seems to think that the one person should got on it. Meaning he doesn’t want to help. Basically the USA is sitting out and watching this happen. I think that is bad cause why should they suffer when we could easily help them. Also Uncle Sam is what you would call the symbol of American pride. If he is lying down and just watching as the people are dying then that means the USA as a nation doesn’t care. If we can help we should help them as much as we can. They don’t have what we do and unlike us maybe don’t have computers. Why are we not helping? Say the one person is one nation, hypothetically. USA as one person is not helping but says a neighboring country is helping. That one person is changing the way that they are living even though it’s very slow and can be unprogressive at times because this genocide still continues. Maybe that is why we are not helping as much as we could. We might think that this is worthless and a waste of the money we make and spend every day. I want to know why we are not helping them. Another reason we are not helping could be that we might think this is unprogressive at times and not even worth what we want to do. We may think that Darfur isn’t important and we have other charities to give to so to speak. Would this limit our money and not be able to be as free we are now. Darfur is not important to us in a sense. It definitely should be important to us because Darfur affects us all in many ways. Lastly I think that George Bush has our army in Iraq so we maybe don’t have enough people to help the people in Darfur. We might need an army to help theses people. But if we don’t the USA needs to help and not be in isolation like our history says.

What do they look like ?

This is a child who was burned by members of the Sudan government. This is an example of what the civilians of Darfur have to go through on a daily basis. The small inocent child has numerous cuts and bruises and has been burned throught his tiny body. Telling by the picture you can tell that the small child is going through trumendous ageny and pain that kids his age here dont even come close to. This child did absoluty nothing to have this brought onto him. Why must more and more people of Darfur suffer like the child .

This is a direct result of what hardship and suffering that has happend years before and is still going on today. This child was purposly burnt by the goverment. Why would they do this?

Since he has cuts on his head he must had been hit with fire there. This has been going on ever since 2003. But this started to flare up in 1970's when rebel groups started to go against government. This child is one of many who were abused in one way or another. Such as starvation which many are exposed to every day. The children are starved to death as I mentioned before, burnt as above in the picture, or many other cruel uses of everyday things. If this continues Darfur will be gone and the "Ethnic Cleansing" would be complete. Women would be kidnapped by the Jangaweed and used as sex slaves. The children are starved and many die. Even though they have pots, pans, or blankets that is not much. We need to help them so the kid above in the picture or any other child that endures the abuse given every day will be able live with out being scared of dieing or living in complete fear. Would you want to live in fear as many must do every day? What do they think? They probably think am I going to die doing something I need to do to survive? If we don’t do anything about this then it will go on forever. And this could spread to another place then another. Leaders will think “ Well the Sudanese government did that so why cant I. USA didn’t try to help or even stop it. I think ill try this method.” We don’t need anything else like this happening again. It was bad enough with the whole Hitler going all power mad and killing 12 million people. What if it come to the USA? What will we do then? If we don’t want this to spread then we need to help the everyday victims of Darfur. Not for just them but everyone else in the world.
